Scenic New England

As most of you know, I was born, bred, and buttered (as they say around these parts) right here in New England and no matter where I travel, I can’t think of anywhere else I’d rather be. As is typical here in June, one day was warm and the next cool, however there were plenty of perfect weather days for sightseeing. I’ve been using my little point & shoot camera for years, nothing fancy, but still I can’t resist pulling it out wherever I go and where I’m drawn is usually to water. Here are a few quick shots from last month. First we’ll pop in on Ogunquit, Maine where the tulips were still going strong past Memorial Day.Then we’ll swing by Prescott Park in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.Can’t leave out Newburyport, MA. Boats of all sizes stop by this pretty little harbor.And last, but not least, it was quite a treat to see the Tall Ships in Boston. We even got to go onboard one of them.

So, that was June and I’m thankful for a bright start to the season. If only summer would slow way down, I’d be happy as a clam at high tide. 🙂

    What a beautiful part of the world you live in Marcia! The pictures are splendid. I love tulips and to think they lasted all the way to June!! The tall ships are magnificent as well. No wonder you love it there. I must make it to New England one day.

      The more I think about it, spring is the problem. We seem to go from winter to summer pretty quickly. It’s spring that should be several weeks longer by starting when it should, in March. 🙂

    I enjoyed your photos, especially the ones with water. I hadn’t realized how much I miss Long Island’s waters, the smell of the salt air, and the call of sea gulls. We went into New England states a number of times and always enjoyed our trips there.

      Oh my gosh, you’ve really pegged it, Anne. I <3 the smell of salt air and the call of seagulls! Every time I take a picture, I find myself waiting for a seagull to fly past my lens. 🙂

    Hi Marcia, born, bred, and buttered is a wonderful saying which I just might have to borrow!
    Your point & shoot camera hasn’t let you down these are lovely photographs. We’ve been enjoying some very high temperatures of late, but it’s raining again now (which always gives us Brits something to talk about). New England looks beautiful at any time of year, Terry and I would love to visit one day.

      I hope you and Terry can eventually travel out this way. Although between Great Britain and Australia, you’ve certainly got your pick of beautiful places. Someday I would like to return to England as I’m sure there were many areas I missed while there.

        We are only doing airport layovers this time because we are visiting New Zealand from Australia. We will spend a month in Oz, fly out from Adelaide to New Zealand for three weeks and then back to Adelaide for the final three weeks.
        We hope to see you in England one day. Tea and cream cakes on us!

    I love living in New England too! We live with the change of seasons each one bringing it’s own special beauty. My favorite spots are always near water too! I did not know about Prescott Park. What a beautiful place! I will have to look it up next time when traveling through Portsmouth NH. What a treat to visit the Tall Ships in Boston and to go aboard on one too! I think you are right our winters are way too long, a brief spring and then wham into summer and now we are almost half way through. I wish summer was about 4 months long like our winters are. These last few years though we do sometimes enjoy summer like weather well into fall!. Enjoy the rest of your summer! Thank you for a lovely post. 🙂

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts on New England, Bette. I’m glad you enjoy the changing of the seasons here. Summer seems about 4 months to me, but it’s spring and fall that get short-changed because winter starts a bit early and then takes over the first month of spring, as well. Oh, well, it certainly makes us appreciate our good weather days! 🙂

    Love it Marcia!! Prescott Park looks like a place we’d love to wander. And those tall ships!! Are they all antiques or recently built in that old style?? Would be exciting to get to board one and feel what it’s really like to be a maritime sailor… Wishing I were closer to your end of the world. thanks friend.       Hi, Rhonda! I think some of the ships were replicas yet others were really old and refurnished. There were more than 50 and I would have loved to witness the parade of sails when they first arrived. I’m sure there’ll be many more outings ahead for me. I hope your summer is continuing to go well, too!

    I am originally from Wisconsin but moved as a newlywed to Florida 46 years ago. When my husband retired 8 years ago, we started to travel and our first trip was to Boston. We have fallen in love with New England!! We will be making our third fall trip to Vermont at the end of October and I’m already working on a trip to Boston for the beginning of the year. I haven’t done a lot of traveling, but I’ll venture to say that New England must be the most beautiful part of the country.
