Below are my answers to her questions.

What is your earliest memory? My earliest clear memories are from about the age of 5 because I was off on a new adventure—kindergarten! I also remember playing next door on our neighbor’s porch and seeing a peacock with my friend.

Where is your favourite place in the world and why? There’s nothing like home sweet home, but aside from that, I am most content by the ocean. I also felt a strong connection to Kensington Gardens—full bloom in April.

Do you have a favourite piece of clothing or footwear? What is it? Most of the time I’m a jeans and sneakers (or boots) kind of girl, but I also like long, flowy skirts with my boots.

If you write a blog what inspired you to start it? If you don’t—why not? My publisher encouraged me to start a blog as a way to promote my books. Being camera-shy and tongue-tied, at first I wanted no part of it, but now it’s an important routine in my life and I’m proud to be part of the blogging community.

Favourite snack potato crisps, peanuts, sunflower seeds or something else? One of my current favorite treats is chunks of ginger covered in dark chocolate. I also can eat more than my share of spicy potato chips.

Have you ever acted or sung on stage? I was a daffodil in a school play once–hardly acting but just thought I would mention it! Any other talents you care to mention? The first event that comes to mind is when my girlfriend and I joined in on a can can dance performance. I think it ran three or four nights and we even had to turn a cartwheel! Previously, I took ballet and tap for a couple of years.

Have you or anyone in your family traced your ancestry? If so is there anyone famous or infamous in your line? Yes, several of my relatives have researched our ancestry. Supposedly I am related to King George II through one of his illegitimate offspring. Also, to the poet James Russell Lowell, as well as to Peregrine White (first baby born after the Mayflower landed in Cape Cod, MA).

Have you ever experienced déjà vu? Yes, every so often I get a strong ‘been there, done that’ feeling.

Do you sing in the shower or in the car or both? Maybe once in a while in the car, but only if the radio’s on. Since I’m always listening to audiobooks lately, it’s a rare occurrence.

Dear Marcia, thanks so much for joining in I loved all your answers. I’m very envious of the cartwheels. I’ve never mastered them.
Your reply to the ancestry question is fascinating. I’ve not found anyone famous or even well-known in my family tree – but I’m still hopeful.
You’ve asked some excellent questions, and these are my answers;
One of my earliest memories is of falling from the top of a garden shed into a patch of stinging nettles! I was only two or three at the time, but I still remember how it felt. My dear dad put me up there and then forgot to hold on. Mum was not amused!
I probably enjoyed books more than anything, but I was also particularly fond of a Mobo Pony which was almost bigger than me.
My only performance on stage was as a daffodil!
The Beatles
I saw Princess Diana when she paid a visit to Winchester (UK). She looked beautiful in a short cream coloured suit.
I used to enter lots of competitions and won some nice prizes. I came very close to winning a car once but in the end I was happy with a third prize of one thousand pounds. I also won a BMX bike and a whole host of electrical equipment as well as several smaller prizes.
I’ve lived in five different counties in the UK, but never in any other countries.
So many people have been kind to me over the years I wouldn’t know where to start answering this. I hope I’ve also been kind to the people I meet.
Easy – any kind of animal sanctuary be it donkeys, horses, hedgehogs, etc.,
Have a world kindness day once a month – maybe we could end up making every day a kindness day. Just think of the difference it would make.

Gosh, I was reading Barbara’s comment. She has certainly won a lot of great prizes! Marcia, I love your answers here. I can imagine you in jeans or long flowy skirts with boots. What an experience that can-can dance must have been! My earliest memory is around 5, too. That’s a nice class photo and I can only guess which one you were (3rd row from the top, 1st girl from the left/ 2nd row from the top, either the 1st of 2nd girl from the left)?

Yes, Barbara has won some wonderful prizes! I used to enter homemade greeting card contests. My biggest prize was an amazing trip to Orlando, Florida to celebrate Baby Shamu’s first birthday at SeaWorld. Your first guess on my class photo is correct. I’m 5 kids in from the left, 2nd row from the bottom. (I think I was happier than I look…) 🙂

The photo of Dark Chocolate covered Ginger really got my attention! It’s on my Christmas Treat list now. Love that you did the Can-Can with a cartwheel! Wow!

I hope you enjoy the chocolate ginger balls, they’re delicious! It’s been a while since I’ve turned a cartwheel. I don’t think I’ll try it anytime soon… 🙂

Congratulations, Marcia!!
This is a wonderful post. A number of your responses brought back a lot of memories. I remember, as a 7th grader, playing a part in the Melrose High School performance of “The Music Man”. They needed younger kids that really played instruments and I happened to play the trombone at the time. It was a lot of fun performing with the “older kids”.
You mentioned ginger with dark chocolate as your favorite snack. My mother loved ginger (without the chocolate) and we would always get her Australian ginger as a special treat at Christmas.
As for the question about the blog, I am just now trying to figure that all out. Who knows what the future will hold. 🙂 You do give me inspiration to keep plugging away at this one.

Oh, how wonderful! I would have loved being in The Music Man. What a great experience for a seventh grader. I’m not sure if I’ve ever tried Australian ginger. Ginger can be a little strong on its own, but surrounded by chocolate works perfect for me. Best of luck with your blog, Art, and thanks so much for sharing your thoughts!

Congratulations Marcia on receiving the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award! I love your answers and your pictures to go along with them! The chocolate covered ginger balls sounds very yummy and ginger is so healthy for you! I have many memories from way back around 4 years of age. I too remember my kindergarten days when I was very shy. I remember when we had our individual class portrait pictures taken, we had to sit on a chair on top of a table. I was so scared that I would fall off. I also remember a little boy named Danny, who would always save me a place at the snack table for me. I feel the world would be a more peaceful place, if everyone took the time to learn about faith and cultural differences from one another. Wonderful post Marcia! 🙂

I was most pleased to be mentioned in your list. Thank you. I hoped I’d find time to participate, but I’m not a quick writer and my time is even shorter! We have one grandson here and will pick up the other on Sunday. Maybe things will slow down in February. i’m so sorry I couldn’t drop everything and play to my heart’s content.
