Monhegan Island (part 3)

As mentioned in my last post (Monhegan Island part 2), around midday the sun burst through the clouds and kept right on shining until our departure. This final part of the triple-post will be mainly pictures to show how Monhegan Island looks at the end of September on a crisp clear day.monhegan-lighthouse-less-copymonhegan-view-topmon-panoramamonhegan-water-view-2monhegan-water-viewmonhegan-view-copymon-red-bushmonhegan-marigolds-copymonhegan-open-copyThere are 17 miles of trails to hike on the island. Here’s one we popped into.monhegan-trail-2At the end of the day it was a welcome sight to see a more modern, larger boat arrive in the harbor—the lovely Elizabeth Ann would get us back without mishap in less than an hour (thanks to a calmer sea).monhegan-elizabeth-anne-copymarshall-point-6-copy-copyWould I do this adventurous voyage again? Oh yeah, in a heartbeat! Check out part 1 and part 2 to learn a lot more about this picturesque island.

    • Wouldn’t that be fun! I’m trying to remember if you have been to the New England area before… As always, thanks for your comments and friendship!

      • Hi Marcia, New England has long been on our ‘must visit one day’ list, but we’ve not made it … yet! Most of our recent long haul trips have been to Australia to see the family so New England rather got put to the end of the list – maybe it is time to move it up again.
I very much appreciate your friendship and your comments on my blog and always enjoy visiting you.

    • Yes, quite a few long trails considering the island is barely a mile long. I use a quick little point & shoot camera, but I still try to capture what I can!

Thank you for a delightful three part series of your visit to Monhegan Island! I feel like I have been on a mini vacation! Your comment that you would return in a heartbeat, in spite of sea sickness, has inspired me to maybe attempt the trip myself! What a beautiful island Monhegan Island is! 🙂

  17. The island looks beautiful, despite the horrible journey to get there it must have been wonderful to revisit it and enjoy the scenery. Some of it reminds me of the island of Sark in the Channel Islands. It was lovely to see that the artists still appreciate it too. Thank you for visiting me. I can see why Barbara choose your blog as one of her favourites. Sarah x

    • Hi Sarah, I’ve never been to the Channel Islands and find it interesting to hear Mohegan reminds you of one of them. Thanks for your comment. I’m very glad Barbara ‘introduced’ us to each other! 🙂
